The workplace can offer a creative, stimulating environment in which to develop and contribute. Over time we can build supportive relationships with colleagues. However, at times the workplace can mirror challenging stresses you face at home, or raise emotions that are difficult to contain or communicate.
The current financial climate can create uncertainty about your role including restructures, change or fear of redundancy, which can be real or imagined. Unrealistic demands can create challenges concerning your performance and this can create ongoing stress.
It can be difficult to talk with colleagues, as you may feel they are going facing their own pressures and you may believe that you will be judged as not coping, if you talk to a manager or Human Resources.
If you are managing a team it can be difficult to find support, or tell anyone you are experiencing stress, as you are the one that needs to be strong in the face of day to day pressures.
I have many years of experience as a counsellor in the corporate, charity and health sectors, this gives me insight and understanding of work stress and the challenges that you may be facing within your role in an organisation.
